Great Horned Owl and Owlet

Great Horned Owls are among North America's most powerful and widespread birds of prey. Found in forests, woodlands, deserts, wetlands, and suburban areas, they are recognized by their striking ear tufts, piercing eyes, and deep, resonant hooting calls. Great Horned Owls often nest in tree cavities or abandoned nests, where they carefully raise their young each spring. This watercolor captures a watchful Great Horned Owl perched over its owlet in a tree nest, portraying the protective bond between parent and offspring in the heart of the forest.
