Northern Flicker Among the Pines

The Northern Flicker is a distinctive woodpecker found throughout much of North America. Unlike many woodpeckers that spend most of their time on tree trunks, Northern Flickers are often seen foraging on the ground for ants and other insects. They inhabit open woodlands, forest edges, parks, suburban neighborhoods, and backyard habitats where mature trees are present.

This original watercolor painting portrays a Northern Flicker nestled among evergreen branches. The bird's spotted plumage, bold black crescent, and bright red cheek patch stand out against the rich greens of the surrounding pines. Soft watercolor washes and careful detail capture the character of this beloved woodland bird while conveying the quiet beauty of a forest setting.

A wonderful addition for bird enthusiasts, woodland nature lovers, and collectors of wildlife art.
